How the Archdiocese of Baltimore Maintains Visibility of Its 44 Schools
In this customer success story, we’ll share how the Archdiocese of Baltimore maintains visibility of its 44 schools in order to grow and thrive.
The Archdiocese of Baltimore includes 44 schools spread across the city of Baltimore and several surrounding counties in Maryland. Each school in the diocese is highly committed to nurturing the mind, body, and spirit of its students. That includes over 16,900 students currently enrolled at the 44 schools.
However, with so many schools and students to manage, the Archdiocese needed a reliable and orderly way to identify how each individual school was doing in terms of enrollment. Additionally, leadership wanted constant visibility to ensure stability and success for the Archdiocese as a whole.
The Challenge: Establishing Visibility at the Individual School Level
Jim Sellinger, the Chancellor of Education for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, needed to ensure the diocesan schools as a whole continued strongly. In order to do that, he needed to establish consistency across its 44 schools. He also needed a good grasp of how each school was doing, when and where problem areas arose, and the right information to solve the issues quickly and efficiently.
Sellinger recalls, “I needed to have some headlights as to what was going on in the schools at every level from an admissions perspective. How are their inquiries? Are they down? What do our retention numbers look like? I had no way of knowing that until after the fact.” Sellinger knew there was a better way.
The Solution: Wielding a Tool to Gain Comprehensive Understanding & Consistency
The combination of Sellinger’s vision, the necessary data, and a tool that integrated with systems already in place convinced them it was time to invest. Jim Sellinger said, “SchoolAdmin has given me the ability to see trends within a particular school. If I have a retention issue or inquiries are down, I can work specifically on those challenges with that school.”
When choosing the best tool to thrive, Sellinger recalled “integration with existing applications was critical. The advantage of SchoolAdmin for us is the capability to interface with our school information system and tuition collection system.”
While the enrollment offices used to operate purely out of excel sheets and with printed paper documents, in just five years the schools have automated all of their enrollment processes. Doing so greatly improved the productivity of each school. “The convenience of SchoolAdmin’s paperless, anytime, anywhere system is ideal,” Sellinger expressed.
